GdPicture Toolkits Newsletter
Hi everyone,

April has been very busy here, with our team bringing lots of enhancements to all our main engines.
We achieved major results with our PDF, OCR, IDP, and formats rendering engines on complex files with RTL languages.

Later in May, we will present our Table Conversion to Excel feature in more detail in a new webinar. As usual, we will advertise it on our website and in a dedicated newsletter, and the recording will be available the following day. You can already test our web demo here.
Don’t hesitate to get your questions ready!

Since GdPicture.NET includes more than 3,000 features and functionalities (and the number keeps growing, we stopped counting a while ago), we’ve decided to highlight a few of them each month.
Today you will find some information and resources about PDF/A conversion and validation.

In other news, many of you may have seen that the PDF Association made the PDF 2.0 specification freely available on their website. Even if you’re not planning to integrate PDF 2.0 support in your application now (but you definitely should!), ISO 32000-2 is useful for everyone using any version of PDF because it provides much clearer instructions about the format implementation. It’s a great opportunity to have a look!

PDF/A support

The PDF/A standard (ISO 19005) allows documents to be converted into a universally recognized format that can be viewed and accessed in the future, regardless of changes in technology or software.

The GdPicture.NET PDF/A conversion library allows developers to convert PDF documents to PDF/A format, ensuring compliance with the ISO standard for long-term archiving. It supports several compression techniques, maintaining the quality of converted PDF/A files while reducing file size. The library also features a performant PDF/A validator to ensure that validated files are compliant with the ISO standard.

In the news
The PDF 2.0 specification (ISO 32000-2) is now free to all!

The PDF Association, with the help of industry sponsors, made the PDF 2.0 specification available for download at no cost. This is an excellent opportunity for developers and vendors to get an up-to-date version of the standard, especially since much work has been done clarifying the text.
