AutodeskewAutodeskewAutodeskew is an artifact that can occur in scanned images because of the camera being misaligned, imperfections in the scanning or surface, or simply because the paper was not placed completely flat when scanned. Deskew is the process of removing skew from images.

Remove borders automatically.
Blank pages detection and removal.

Convert to black and white or greyscale or colour.
Adjust colour (brightness, contrast, saturation, gamma).

Apply bitonal filters to remove isolated dots or to dilate/erode characters.
Apply contour, sepia or scanline effects.

It allows documents of any types to be viewed and manipulated efficiently over the Internet, and affords digital copiers/printers efficient network transmission of digitally copied documents. ., PDF/OCRPDF/OCRPDF Searchable Image (often called PDF/OCR) is a PDF image-based document which, in addition to the visual representation of the original document (bitmapped layer), also contains a (hidden) text layer resulted from Optical Character Recognition (OCR) process so you can search for any word on any page of the PDF document. PaperScan uses Tesseract OCR engine to create PDF/OCR files. Text can be viewed in PDF Viewer apps, such as Adobe Reader, PaperLight, etc.. with post-naming options.

You can use PaperScan for any Windows operating system starting with Windows 2000.
Both 32-bit and 64-bit drivers are supported.
For later versions of Windows you don't need administrator privileges to run PaperScan.

PaperScan is available in 3 versions: Free Edition, Home Edition and Professsional Edition.
All three versions provide the same set of features but the Free and Home Editions have some limitations.
Technical support is free for evaluation phase and for license owners.

"I suddenly could no longer scan documents with my Canon LaserBase MF5730 bought back in 2006, using the Canon MFToolbox which comes with the MF device. I downloaded from CNET Krystal Capture Studio and mdss. Krystal Capture Studio did not install, mdss did not run. So I tried PaperScan 1.1.02 Free Edition. It just runs beautifully. "

Language & Interface

Default user interface language in PaperScan is English.
Based on your Windows language settings, PaperScan automatically displays the localised version of the interface, if it exists among PaperScan translated interface versions.Currently, available languages for PaperScan interface are : English and French.
