PaperScan Scanner Software :: TWAIN & WIA Scanning Application With OCR And Annotations

"On 1/13/2012 I spent several hours searching for a good freeware "General Purpose" Scanner Application, where "General Purpose" means that it works with all WIA and/or TWAIN scanners. I wanted software to replace the poor software that came with my HP 4470c Scanjet (purchased several years ago).

"I suddenly could no longer scan documents with my Canon LaserBase MF5730 bought back in 2006, using the Canon MFToolbox which comes with the MF device. I downloaded from CNET Krystal Capture Studio and mdss. Krystal Capture Studio did not install, mdss did not run. So I tried PaperScan 1.1.02 Free Edition. It just runs beautifully."

"I am using the PaperScan Free Edition is doing what expected and it is very useful when scanning a lot of information.
As I live in Hong Kong and work in China, having Chinese language translation (both in Simplified & Traditional Chinese) is much convenient for me and my family, especially for my young son, only twelve years old. And also it is more convenient for user in Asia area, especially in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong & Macau.

I think personally Paperscan is a great product, but I don't know it for sure, because i have never tested it.

"I had been in search of an application to scan documents and receipts. I had some basic requirements that software must support crop, deskew, save to PDF, twain support, combine multiple scans to single PDF, and provide some image cleanup functions.

I downloaded about a dozen apps and tried them all and surprisingly most did not have all the features, did not work, or if did work were priced around $200 plus. Then I ran across PaperScan by accident, tried it, and found it refreshing that it did all that I needed and had a nice clean design and fairly easy to use.

What happened next really surprised me. I had posted to the forum requesting some features that would be nice to have. Then a few weeks later noticed that one of those features had been implemented.

This is a responsive and responsible company with a great product that is improving and I strongly recommend this software product."

"I use my scanner to scan & electronically file my correspondence. Saves filing lots of paper and the pain of searching through folders and boxes for the right documents. I have been looking for software that would work with my old all-in-one Brother Scanner/Printer as the supplied s/w is not very user-friendly and is more XP than Windows 7 in style. I have just found your software and it looks very much what I am looking for. I will be trying the Free version and hoping that I am lucky enough to win one of the 10 professional licenses. Happy First Anniversary and millions of thanks for the opportunity. I have a scanner but too bad, I lost the driver CD provided by the vendor. Now I am counting on Windows Fax and Scan for daily scan task. Well, we know that despite being simple to use, it is not very robust. That is why I am desperate to win a license. No to mention that there is this OCR support which certainly would be a nice addition to my scanner capability.

"It is not as much the winning, as the wanting it, in the case of Paperscan.My old HP PSC 1200 packed up due to voltage spikes and I was forced to buy another entry level HP PSC 1050J410 which is okay but the software is inadequate to say the least.
I heard of Paperscan and fortuitously landed on this site.Let us now wait and see…"

"I stumbled upon Paperscan when I was looking for an alternative to Nuance Paperport. That one is not bad but expensive and the dev team is uncapable of solving problems. PAPERSCAN in its way is perfect. Easy to use and ergonomically persuading.
